Food for the West Coast Trail
First off I would like to say I go for the most calories per pound when putting together backpacking food. I normally try to do between 4,000-5,000 calories or 2-2.5lbs of food a day. The Below equals 30,976 Calories at 19.72lbs. Which is a little much for 7 days but we also plan to do some day hiking the day before. Divide by 7 and you get 4,425 Calories a day at 2.8lbs a day. Probably 2 lbs of package so It’s more like 2.5lbs a day.
